Standing Up Against Gender Based Violence

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) remains a serious challenge in South Sudan, affecting thousands of women, girls, and even young boys across the country. Rooted in gender inequality, cultural norms, and ongoing conflict, GBV not only harms individuals but also weakens families and entire communities. The Foundation for Child Education & Development Africa (F-CEDA) is at the forefront of efforts to prevent and respond to GBV through community-based protection and awareness programs.

F-CEDA’s gender and protection initiatives focus on empowering communities to recognize, report, and respond to cases of GBV. Through training sessions, dialogues, and advocacy campaigns, community members are educated on human rights, gender equality, and the importance of protecting women and children. The organization also partners with local authorities, health facilities, and other NGOs to strengthen referral systems and ensure survivors receive the psychosocial and medical support they need.

A central part of F-CEDA’s approach is community ownership. By involving traditional leaders, youth groups, and women’s associations, the organization builds trust and ensures that prevention messages are culturally relevant and widely accepted. This community-driven strategy helps reduce stigma and promotes collective responsibility in addressing GBV

F-CEDA also conducts capacity-building workshops for service providers, enhancing their ability to deliver quality, survivor-centered care. In collaboration with local radio stations and schools, awareness messages are shared to reach wider audiences, especially in rural areas where information is limited.

Through these coordinated efforts, F-CEDA continues to create safer communities where women and girls can live free from fear and violence. The organization’s commitment to gender equity and protection underscores its belief that every individual deserves respect, safety, and equal opportunity.

Join F-CEDA in the movement to end gender-based violence. Together, we can build a future where all women and girls in South Sudan live in dignity and safety.
